Thanks to Side-Line for writing up some news about us. Its great that we’re crossing the genre-boundaries.from Chill out to Industrial and back to dubstep. The label behind the mag has showcased some of my favourite artists of all time..including Depeche Mode. So this rocks basically.
This podkast is inspired by cinema / films / soundtracks.. I was hunting around for some samples for some of my tunes, and I came across this amazing Mashed in Plastic compilation /mashup with david lynch film and tv scores, dialogue from the films, and music. It’s amazing..I borrowed the intro which is in the podkast. Also having listened to ASC’s forthcoming album, Irrelevants tunes, and using many film samples for my own music..it really makes me think about how important music is to film and tv and vice versa. What makes me cry when I watch a scene in a film?….its not just the action but its also the film score. So this is my little tribute to all the music that brings what we watch come to life. And all the film quotes and music that inspire modern bass music. So for today this is the soundtrack to my life. I hope you like it. — AC
ps-there are more swear words that usual …because of some of the film dialogues I sampled! xx

Electrified dubstep from Kiat & Alley Cat on Kokeshi. ‘Purple Clouds’ zooms Kraftwerk into a dubstep future populated by subbass shuddered zombies instead of robots, while ‘The Missing Channel’ plugs a billowing halfstep rhythm with robust melodies akin to sticking a naked battery on your tongue.

PROJECT HARP
Giving them both a listen, gotta say Purple Clouds is the top track. Missing Channel is an ice cold track with a sickly sweet and subtle bassline (naughty?)
Both feature a dreamy yet industrial taste of the dubstep you rarely hear done well. What this release manages to do is blend that dreamy feel with something put together crisply. It also manages to make it distinct and UNREPETITIVE (yes!)
GET TO THE FUTURE
Kiat & Alley Cat - 'Purple Clouds'
'Purple Clouds' has a celestial, choral vocal that introduces industrial, jumping beats and flows through the track as it becomes more ferocious and drifts into darker territory. The beats intensify and glitch with ripples of Aphex Twin and you will float away with rich pads that soothe heavy eyes.
PHUTURE LABS
For the 3rd release on Alley Cat’s fledgling “Kokeshi” imprint, the London producer has teamed up with Singapore’s Kiat for this dirty chunk of breaksy bizness. Using an old skool electro break that’s dipped in distortion and piling the atmosphere on by the ton, this is a brilliant slice of dark dubsteppy tinged electronica.
We’re pleased that #3 is on its way..a bit tougher and a bit glitchier than last time..but still has that Kokeshi sound..
both are perfect for the dance floor.. enjoy the previews below. Out 5th April 2010!
